Eagle Wings Shelter for the homeless is based in Meyerton. The shelter take a lot of pride in there property and in finding ways to impower the people in their care. During 2018 & 2019 we did a number of project with them, in order to improve there living conditions. On our return, we were impressed with the way this community sustained the changes they have made.
We would like to increase our care of this community by assisting them to establish a chicken farming project. The project will provide meat and eggs to the community and could enable them to sell produce to the surrounding households.
The establishment of a chicken farm on the property will not only provide a long term food and income source but in the short term, develop the skills of all the people involved in the project as well.
The building of the chicken coop will teach skills like project management, setting up irrigation systems as well as setting up heating and cooling systems.
